Pre-Sale Inspections

Prior to selling your home, the Commonwealth requires that the Fire Department inspect the entirety of your house to make sure the installed fire protection systems are up to current standards. This includes, however is not limited to, smoke and carbon monxide alarms, heat detectors, and sprinker systems.

To schedule a Smoke/CO inspection, please call our Headquarters to set up an appointment with one of our Fire Prevention Officers at 413-436-5444.

Although there are no residential requirements on fire extinguishers, it is highly suggested that a minimum of one extinguisher is kept somewhere nearby in the kitchen, however not so close to the stove that it would be inaccessable in the event of a fire.
